WeDrive: Building a street legal 1000HP+ Nissan GTR Nismo GT3

TrackandTuner.com had the pleasure to check out a very exciting project. Three years ago we got in contact with a very passionated Nissan GTR owner, just experiencing the Nordschleife. We recorded his litchfield tuned 750HP Nissan GTR on the Nordschleife, which you can see down below.

After that, lots has changed. The Nordschleife virus got to him, and he went out to built the most extreme street legal Nissan GTR in the world. Three years ago he began to completely transfer his Nissan GTR to a street legal Nismo GT3 with the help of Litchfield. This project is called the Nissan LM1 RS GT-R.

The amount of work which went into this project is unbelievable. The car was completely stripped down, and rebuild in carbon fiber original Nismo GT3 parts, full roll cage and a lot of aerodynamic parts.

For example the undertray of this car is completely build out of carbon fiber and tested in a wind tunnel for the optimal aero package.

After a three year build this car was just being tested back again at the Nordschleife during our stay. It was incredible to see how much work has gone into this, from the cooling, the interior, the multiple ECU eletronics and the Engine upgrades. The car is capable of 1000HP+ but is running a lot less for now just doing testing laps.

Everything you see in black is carbon fiber, but resprayed to keep it stealthy and street legal looking. The car is now 350KG lighter than the original Nissan GTR even with all the reinforcement like the roll cage.

The beauty of this car, is that it is a fully prepped race monster, which is completely street legal. Basically a street legal Nismo GT3 car. It was fun to see that the Nissan engineers and head of motorsport were equally impressed by this build.

And remeber this is just stage 1. Every project will run into problems, overheating, rubbing or things not working 100%. However for a completely new build this car did great.

As you can see down below, the only thing remaining from the original car are the carbon fiber seats.

This car will continue to develop and when ready, will become an absolutele Nordschleife Monster.
