TrackandTuner.com visited GranTurismoEvents 2019: King of the Ring. As you know the Granturismoevents are one of our favorite events on the Nurburgring Nordschleife and we have been visiting them every year.
This year we already saw a great edition in the sun. If you have not seen our previous reports yet, check them out here, here or here.
After a very successful first edition in 2019, GranTurismoEvents decided to organize another even more exclusive event, called King of Ring. A trackday for the experienced drivers including time recording.
The weather on GranTurismoEvents is always sunny, but the edition of King of the Ring was unfortunately wet. Not that it was pouring with rain, but a slight drizzle and low temperatures are not optimal for these fast cars running semi slicks.
Some of the guys had a solution and were running wet tires, other were even more brave and were testing the wet lines on their semi slick tires.
While other like the famous Powerslidelover went full drift mode. He swapped his Ferrari 488 Pista with his Lamborghini Urus for some fun drift laps.
As usual cars like the Porsche GT3 RS, BMW M3’s and Ferrari’s were attending. However a trend which we saw is that the GT2 RS was outnumbering the GT3 RS.
Upon the introduction of the Porsche GT2 RS, most drivers didn’t felt comfortable with the immense power and slingshot style driving.
They were used to driving the very linear GT3 RS flat six. But after some month, owners are getting used to the power and with the help of the Manthey handling kit, the car transforms to a way better handling car feeling almost like the GT3 RS in handling.
Even in the rain GranTurismoEvents always attracts some crazy project. Projects like the 1200HP Zyrus engineering Lamborghini Huracan. These guys were testing to make the ultimate Twin Turbo Lamborghini Huracan trackday toy. More on this awesome project can be seen here.
